2010 Ceili ~ Synod

Our Time to Pray and Play

When the Celtic Christian Church was first born as St. Ciaran's Fellowship we were part of the old Celtic Christian Communion.  Bishop Thomas Faulkenbury, from the Anamchara Celtic Church coined the phrase "Spiritual Ceili" when referring to what many others would call Church Retreat!  His wonderful idea was that we would pray and play together when we joined yearly for our gatherings in the Communion.  When the Communion dissolved, St. Ciaran's Fellowship became The Celtic Christian Church, and we kept the wonderful phrase started by Bishop Faulkenbury for those yearly gatherings we had together.

We have had many a Spiritual Ceili since 1997.  Some of them have been quiet, and others times when we celebrated the ordinations of deacons and priests and the religious professions of vowed members within the CCC.  We've played music together, talked, walked, and gotten to know one another very well over these years, and the ceili has been a big factor in this.  Each year we look forward to our weekend together, and plan for it for many months prior to it.

this year...

Our 2010 Ceili/Synod is planned for November 12 -14, 2010 and will be held at

St. Francis Spiritual Center in Ringwood, NJ.

We hold our Church Synod every three years on our Ceili weekend, and welcome friends of the CCC to join us.  It is a time to learn about the CCC and meet some of our members, as well as share prayer, fellowship, and Eucharist together.  The "business meetings" of our synod are open, and those attending are welcomed to sit in on them, or use that time for private prayer and meditation, walking the labyrinth*, or simply enjoy the beauty of St. Francis Spiritual Center.

  • The weekend starts with Friday evening dinner at 5 PM.

  • Three meals Saturday, and breakfast and lunch on Sunday.

  • We depart Sunday afternoon.

  • There are a limited number of handicapped accessible rooms available.

  • Bed linen and towels are provided.

  • Cost is $190.00 per person for the weekend.

  • A non-refundable deposit of $20.00 by June 30, 2010

  • Balance due by September 30, 2010 or space and deposit will be lost.  This date is final.

  • Space is limited so reserve early.

*The Labyrinth Experience

franciscan spiritual center

Walking the labyrinth is a spiritual act practiced throughout history. The path in leading to the center allows time to think and to engage in an inward journey in search of God and self. On the way out the path becomes a way to bring enlightenment from the center out into the world. Use of the labyrinth as a walking meditation can bring deep spiritual renewal revealing new understandings and insights.
